Here’s Sheffield acoustic artist Tom Scott doing a cover of ‘Good Time’ by Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City. Pretty good reworking of it.
Sheffield band Blind Drivers joined us in the Sheffield Live studios to perform an acoustic set and chat about their future plans. Paul from the band steps up as lead vocals for this one as Matt (sat in the background) is ill at the minute. But he doesn’t a smashing job. Here they’re performing one of my favourite tracks ‘These Days’. Enjoy it.
Here’s Blind Drivers cover of David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’. See what you think.
Here’s a video of See Emily Play performing at Tramlines Festival 2012, in Sheffield. It was one of the best live gigs I’d been to. Emily was accompanied by her backing band and the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra.
Sheffielder Emily Ireland is very modest, quite shy and very polite when she introduces her songs. Then she gets behind a microphone, puts her hands to the piano keys and out comes this powerful, deep and dramatic voice that blows you away.
This is her track ‘A Loner Like Me’, which takes you on an emotional journey reflected in the change of chords, drum fills and melancholic guitars.
After having Emily on my radio show Mixtape before and constantly playing her music I hope she goes far.
Here’s acoustic folk singer Mark Nichols performing live on Mixtape. He’s making some beautiful music in Sheffield and he can play pretty much any instrument he gets his hands on.
Accompanying him tonight was Ben and George.
Here he performs his brand new song ‘The Traveller’.
It’s off his next EP called ‘The Traveller’, which is being released on 17th September.
There’s a launch party at The Hop, in Sheffield, on 12th September.
Here’s the wonderful Alex Johnson performing his beautiful song ‘Birds and Bees’ in Sheffield’s G2 studios.
He’s from Blackburn but making lots of his music in Sheffield as he’s at Uni there.
Take time to watch this. I can’t stop watching it. Love this song.
The Tramlines People’s Choice band – Blue Lip Feel – joined me in the Mixtape Studios for a live session and a chat.
They’ll be playing the mainstage at Tramlines festival in Sheffield on 21st July. Make sure you’re down there as they’ll be giving the first 100 that queue up their NEW EP!
Arkham Karvers are now releasing their music through Tiny Teeth Records.
Here they are performing live at The Plug in Sheffield.
Playing at the Tiny Teeth Records vs Soundclash event at Plug. Sheffield band Arkham Karvers were headlining. They’re now releasing their music with Tiny Teeth Records and working with musician Jon Windle to develop their sound.
This song is called ‘Circles’ and it’s absolutely brilliant so get watching and share!
Drummer Josh Reddy enjoys his pint too.
This video was the first ever uploaded to the show’s YouTube channel. It’s the live session and interview with Sheffield acoustic folk band Upside.
They came into the last July and we were blown away by their energy and sound. Back then the band was approaching the final of music competition ‘Live and Unsigned’ in London. Unfortunately they were the runners up.
The trio: Conor Murphy, Lewis Mason and Jodi Anderson are now working on their own material after deciding to split as a band last month. But Upside were an amazing unsigned band and I have now doubt they’ll produce brilliant solo material.
Watch Upside performing live on Mixtape – where they mash up one of their own songs with ‘Hero’ by Enrique Iglesias.
The amazing mash up of ‘Hey Ya’ by Outkast and one of Upside’s song.
Jodi has already written and recorded a few songs – here’s one of them from their Farewell gig:
The pop-punk trio The Summer War popped into the Mixtape studio for a live acoustic set and a chat about their music, influences and their second EP!
Sheffield unsigned singer songwriter Alex Johnson joined Mixtape in the studio for a live session and chat about his next album.
He’s planning to record his second EP this Easter.
Here’s the live sessions:
Here’s his beautiful rendition of John Mayer’s ‘Slow Dancing in a Burning Room’.
Sit back and enjoy.
Alex shares his track ‘Fall Away’ with Mixtape! He’s not played it to many people so be one of the first to watch it…
This track Birds and Bees is going to be on his second EP.
The latest live session in the Mixtape studio.
Acoustic artist Jimmy Dare joined us in the studio to perform live.
He’s from Holmfirth in West Yorkshire (where Last of the Summer Wine is filmed!)
This is his brilliant rendition of Jessie J’s Do it Like a Dude.
He’s playing in Sheffield at Trippets festival – on the 12th May at Dada on Trippets Lane so get yourself down there.
